Based on the fact that most Zapdos sets are either all-out sweeper or the physically defensive staller, a mix between the two can catch many unsuspecting foes by surprise. Begin by sending out Zapdos to counter an opponent that it can easily KO with such a high Special Attack, Life Orb, and SE damage. Seeing Zapdos' Life Orb, the opponent will predictably send in a fast sweeper to KO Zapdos. At this point, you can Roost off the damage and switch out to something more advantageous, all the while saving Zapdos for late game. Speed EVs allow outspeeding of all base 90's.
