Update @ 3:37PM GMT-8
An official site has been put up for the games, giving us clearer art of the formes and the logos. The games come out in June of this year. Yep, this is real life, and you're looking at Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 for the Nintendo DS. UPDATE @ 3:49PM: Now posted on the North American Pokémon site. No new information.
In our last article hyping this article, where Smash was to reveal some form of new game information, we outlined three possibilities: A) they reveal Kyurem's new forme, B) an outright reveal of a new game (which we said was the most unlikely) or C) it would be an announcement for the proper announcement of a new game coming soon. Well, now we know the answer: more than one of the above.
Junichi Masuda was shown stepping out on stage with his favourite black polo (and the collars popped, of course) with a card obscured by a question mark in the early stages of the show, promising new game information to come out. Naturally this was teased approximately 72 times throughout the episode, until they finally showed the clip in its entirety.
He then proceeded to blow the minds of every single person watching in revealing Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 for the Nintendo DS. Yeah. They then revealed two Kyurem formes, one based on Reshiram, and one based on Zekrom. You can see the formes again in a leaked movie poster below.
We have a higher quality vesion of the poster featuring its two new formes alongside of Meloetta courtesy of PidgiNet. As you can see it also introduces Meloetta, Pokémon #648, in its Aria forme, as the star of the Pikachu mini movie. The Kyurem formes shown here mimic Reshiram (left) and Zekrom (right), and this is, yes I'm about to brag right now so prepare yourself, exactly what nza and I predicted. Aw yeah. You can read nza's extensive and highly speculative breakdown of all the possible course of events that we saw Black, White, and Gray taking here. We based our speculation on the game's inclusion of the moves Freeze Shock and Ice Burn, which no Pokémon can learn as of yet and seemed to be Ice versions of powerful moves in the possession of Reshiram and Zekrom. Not very complicated stuff, I know.
