Sandstorm

 > Guides & Games  > Weather

The Sandstorm weather condition was introduced in the third generation of Pokémon games (RuSaEmFRLG). It can be brought about by use of the move Sandstorm (TM37) or by the ability Sand Stream.

When a Sandstorm is active Pokémon of the Rock type will recieve a boost in their Special Defense stat of 150%, or 1.5 times the value it held prior to the storm.

Any Pokémon with Ground, Rock, or Steel as its type (or part of its typing) will not recieve damage from the storm. If the Pokémon does not have one of those types it will lose 6.25% (1/16) of it's health at the end of every turn.

smooth rock A Pokémon holding the item Smooth Rock will prolong the duration of a Sandstorm for three more turns than normal (from five turns to eight turns).
