Stationary Legends
Please note that defeating the Elite 4 in HGSS will cause any and all defeated Legends to respawn with new IVs and natures.

Ho-Oh is located on the roof (11th floor) of the Bell Tower in Ecruteak City. To get Ho-Oh you will need to first defeat Team Rocket at their final front at Goldenrod's Radio Tower and obtain the Rainbow Wing by defeating all seven Kimono Girls in a row at their theatre in Ecruteak.
Before reaching Bell Tower you'll travel the short but awesome Bellchime Trail. There are several mushrooms hidden here, so be sure to check the Dowsing MCHN to find them.
Ascending Bell Tower's 10 floors may or may not be a puzzle for you, so a step-by-step has been provided. I suggest bringing a Pokémon with Fly to keep you from having to descend the tower after the battle, as well consider some Repels to keep your team fresh. I'll start at the third floor since the first two aren't difficult at all.
You can use the instructions below or watch the video on our YouTube.
- 3F - Take the top-right jump, then head up and make your way to the center platform. Head left and use the three jumps on the next platform to head east. On this platform walk north to hit that jump and then move on to the ladder.
- 4F - Use the jump on the south of the platform, then go immediately left. Follow this path until you are at a point with an option to go south or east. Continue south and then west to end up on a fairly large platform. The path from here, until you reach a ladder, is forced. Ignore this ladder use the top-right path to reach the center platform. Again head north and take the path to the next visible ladder which you will be ascending.
- 5F - Follow the path north-east until you have just passed the vertical support beam. Start heading south. Follow this until you are on a small platform and have the option to go west or south. Head south since going east takes you back to where you started. On the very next platform there are two paths, go straight. At the next fork take the right-most path. Head south until you hit a platform with a ladder which you ascend.
- 6F - Easy floor. Follow the bridge around then take the northern-most bridge to the west (doing this instead of taking the lower bridge gets you a Full Heal, so I guess I did help with items, at least once...). From there simply head south to the ladder and climb it.
- 7F - Simply head north and take the first teleporter you see. Across the center platform is the next teleporter you will take.
- 8F? - South until you reach the first west-bound jump bridges. Head west for three, then down once, then west again to the next teleporter (take it for a Nugget! Then head back to the teleporter to be where you started). Take the only exit platform path until you hit another teleporter (which you can take for a Max Elixir and teleport back). Head right to the platform where you started, head north and hit that to teleport back to 7F.
- 7F - This time take the east-bound bridge path and follow it south. On this platform take the teleporter.
- 8F - Take the first teleporter you see.
- 9F - Go east and hit the first teleporter you see.
- From its simply a matter of following the straightforward path to reach the roof. Good luck.

Kyogre resides in the Embedded Tower on Rt. 47, which is west of Cianwood City. You will need Surf and Rock Climb to reach it. To be able to get it to appear you will need to take care of some things first. They are listed below.
- Obtain all 16 Badges
- Defeat Trainer Red at Mt. Silver's peak
- Recieve one of the Kanto starters from Professor Oak
- Visit Mr. Pokémon to get the Blue Orb
With the Blue Orb in-hand head to Rt. 47. When you enter the first cave on this route take the ladder down and exit out to a small beach. Surf west and look for a path through the rock barrier. Once through simply scale the wall until you reach a cave. Inside Kyogre will be waiting.

To reach Lugia you need to take care of some things first. Team Rocket's last stand must take place at Goldenrod's Radio Tower. Then you must defeat all seven Kimono Girls in a row at their Ecruteak City theatre. Having beaten them you will recieve the Silver Wing and thus be ready to capture Lugia.
To get to the entrance you will need to take head south from Olivine City. Stay close to the right-most rock wall and Surf south until you hit the first whirlpool. Approach and cross it from the south. You will need to make your way around the cave entrance to get inside.
Simply follow the path straight over two minor cliffs and head north to the first ladder. Descend it. From here follow the winding road to another ladder which you will descend. From there head south and you'll meet a man who would stop you from progressing if it weren't for your having the Silver Wing. With passage granted head down this path (the first cave will give a nice view of Lugia waiting below but that is all). Enter the cave at the bottom, watch the gorgeous cut-scene and good luck.

Like its counterpart, Kyogre, you will find Groudon in the Embedded Tower on Rt. 47. To reach the tower you will need Pokémon with the HMs You will need Surf and Rock Climb. Assuming you have completed the following tasks you are good to head out to find Groudon waiting for you.
- Obtain all 16 Badges
- Defeat Trainer Red at Mt. Silver's peak
- Recieve one of the Kanto starters from Professor Oak
- Visit Mr. Pokémon to get the Blue Orb
To reach the tower head to Rt. 47 and take the ladder in the first cave down to the beach outside. Surf west and ascend the walls using Rock Climb. The tower is simply a cave with a lonely Groudon inside it.
Kanto's Legendary Birds
Initially, Kanto's birds Roaming in Platinum made a bit of sense. Some of us had already been speculating about Gold/Silver remakes and Kanto's birds was only fuel on the fire. Why? Well, these birds were not available for capture in Gold/Silver, unless you used the Time Capsule to send them over, because they had already been captured by Red.
For a moment it seemed that GAME FREAK had kept up with continuity and that these birds would remain out of the storyline for the presumed remakes. While the remakes did come, we also saw the coming of these birds... I guess, in some respects, their Roaming in Platinum was not 100% logical - if they were caught, how could they Roam Sinnoh, perhaps Red let them go - but it still felt right they would not appear in the remakes. At any rate, onto the information!
Note: The birds will not appear until after you have completed the sidequest involving the Machine Part and obtained the Earth Badge from Blue.

Articuno can be found in the Seafoam Islands. Assuming you have met the requirements before heading out for it. As well, the HMs Surf, Strength are needed and consider Rock Smash as well.
To get to Articuno you will need to enter the Seafoam Islands from the Cinnabar Island side. When you arrive head down the path instead of up the ladder to Blaine's gym.
You will navigate down to the fourth basement floor where Articuno will be waiting. It will reappear if you defeat it by accident but saving before starting the battle is a better approach anyway, that is if you intend to reset for a good nature, shiny, etc. It is in a cave, so we can use Dusk Balls to hopefully capture Articuno fairly quickly.

Zapdos can be found on Rt. 10, hovering just outside of the Power Plant, for some reason... Make sure you have met the requirements!
This battle should not be too difficult considering the levels your team should be at. Batting it at night may help as using Dusk Balls is always a better approach the plain old Ultra Balls.

Moltres is residing in Mt. Silver. The HMs Surf, Waterfall, Rock Climb and Strength are needed prior to heading out and make sure you have met the requirements first.
Upon entering Mt. Silver take the left water path, up the waterfall and into the side cave. You'll navigate a Rock Climb wall, encounter another waterfall and enter a final cave before spotting Moltres. Being that it is in a cave Dusk Balls will work wonders in making this a fairly simple capture.

Unlike its counterparts, Suicune does not roam, as a means of encountering it. But you will engage in a chase with it and Eusine that starts in Ecruteak City and ends on Rt. 25 near Bill's house (aka Cerulean Cape).
Suicune must be followed and met at specific locations in order for it to appear. The meetings are as follows: Burned Tower, Cianwood City (battle against Eusine), Rt. 42, Vermillion City, Route 14 and finally at Cerulean Cape.
When you do meet up with Suicune at Cerulean Cape it will behave like any other old fashioned stationary Legend. If you aren't up for using the Master Ball here (I wouldn't be) I'd recommend waiting until nightfall to use those trusty Dusk Balls to capture it.
On an unrelated note, it was nice to see Eusine return from Pokémon Crystal, wouldn't you agree?

Unlike the Legendary Birds, having Mewtwo appear in Kanto this time is welcomed, but that's just an opinion.
As per its original location in Green/Red/Blue, you will find Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave. You will need to have all 16 badges to be able to access the cave.
Cerulean Cave's layout is a bit different from FRLG, so don't think this is 100% same old business. You will need Surf and Strength. Rock Smash, Rock Climb and Flash are technically not requirements but it makes things easier and allows you to get most of the items...
Arriving at Mewtwo will take a bit of navigation through the cave before you can make it to the basement it resides it but it should be well worth it considering we have not had an opportunity to face Mewtwo since FRLG were released in 2004!

Rayquaza is likely going to be the last Legendary Pokémon that you will be capturing on your quest provided that it will not be available until after you have captured Groudon/Kyogre and the requirements to get them involve having completed most of the game.
So, depending on the game you have, you will need to trade for a HG Kyogre or a SS Groudon (third generation transfers will not work here). With both HGSS Kyogre and Groudon in your party visit Professor Oak. He will give you the Jade Orb which will unlock Rayquaza's appearance in the Embedded Tower located on Rt. 47.
Even at level 50 Rayquaza is a powerhouse but your Pokémon should be up to snuff seeing as how you have defeated Red at this point. Standard Dusk Balls apply for use in this cave, good luck.
