League Champion - Cynthia

 > Guides & Games  > Diamond/Pearl/Platinum

In Platinum

 overworld

Ah, Cynthia, the Champ returns in Platinum!

And finally the lowered levels seem to almost scathe the ones existent in Diamond/Pearl. This is the closest you will get to the old levels, at least the first time through the E4...

The only major revamp you will see on Cynthia's team is the replacement of Gastrodon for Togekiss. Which may very well be the best replacement made when considering all the Elites.

While this team isn't anything to scoff at I actually found it to be a little lackluster this time around. Garchomp and Lucario still seem to be the biggest challenges here and really thoughout the entire Pokémon League challenge. Spiritomb deserves mention but if you open with Torterra and drop a Leech Seed on it that deal should pretty much be sealed.

All things considered, if you aren't using at least a couple Revives and healing every few turns you did a very good preparing and so give yourself a pat on the back [unless you hacked, lol, in which case, well, why'd you even come here or challenge the Elite 4?].

Awards for defeating Cynthia...

  1. 12,400 PokéYen.
  2. Congratulations! You are the new PokéLeague Champion!

In Diamond & Pearl

Recommended Attack Types: Electric, Fire, Flying, Grass, Ground, & Ice.

To start with when you walk into Cynthia's room she will start talking to you, so don't enter her room without first preparing your team!

Spiritomb is no easy task considering it has absolutely no weakness at all and is immune to attacks of three different types: Fighting, Normal, & Psychic. With equal base Defense stats it doesn't matter if you hit it with a Physical or Special Attack, so pick your own poison. Just watchout for Ominous Wind, its powerful and if your Pokémon is weak to Ghost attacks its likely to fall with a quickness.

Roserade shouldn't be much of a hassle. Infernape or Rapidash should have Cynthia quickly sending in her next Pokémon.

Gastrodon, like Roserade, shouldn't be a problem. If you have your own Roserade use it, if you have Torterra use it, etc.

Next up should be Lucario. Honestly, one Earthquake, Flare Blitz, Fire Blast, Close Combat, ETC. should be sufficient. If you can't outspeed it, watchout.

Milotic, if you haven't fought her Milotic before don't plan on using a Grass type here to exploit its weakness. You'll get hit with an Ice beam quicker than you can spell it, maybe... =P Something like Luxray or Raichu, however, will be more effective. Even still its going to use Recover and pound you with Surf's that put the hurt on both the Electric types I mentioned for the fact that they aren't Defensive powerhouses.

Garchomp is Garchomp, a profound statement, I'm aware. The point is, without a Dragon-type with better Speed, or a Focus Sash, just be prepared. Weavile is the only other legit threat you'll find ingame that can KO Garchomp before it KOs you. I am, of course, assuming that you are within Cynthia's range of levels... Once you are finished, Congratulations!
