Battle Points

While Diamond and Pearl only offer the Battle Tower, in the Fight Area, Platinum adds four additional arenas for making challenges. This expanded area keeps the same moniker as was used in Emerald, The Battle Frontier.

As you progress through the Frontier you will earn BP (Battle Points). Below the things that can be purchased for BP, in each game, are detailed below.

There are two corners where you can spend BP.

The first corner, The Exchange Service Corner, is divided into two stands. In Platinum these stands are located outside in the middle of Frontier Square, in Diamond/Pearl these stands are located inside of the building you pass under while heading toward the Battle Tower.

Items Stand

If you guessed the Items Stand sells Items for BP... You're correct! This Stand is located to the left, under the blue and white sunshade (in Platinum). The items for sale are as follows and have broken apart according use...

	Power Weight	16	Holder gains 4 Effort Values in HP per battle but Speed is halved.
	Power Bracer	16	Holder gains 4 Effort Values in Attack per battle but Speed is halved.
	Power Belt	16	Holder gains 4 Effort Values in Defense per battle but Speed is halved.
	Power Lens	16	Holder gains 4 Effort Values in Special Attack per battle but Speed is halved.
	Power Band	16	Holder gains 4 Effort Values in Special Defense per battle but Speed is halved.
	Power Anklet	16	Holder gains 4 Effort Values in Speed per battle but Speed is halved.
Hold Items
	Flame Orb	16	Inflicts the Burn status condition on the holder after the first turn.
	Toxic Orb	16	Inflicts the Poison status condition on the holder after the first turn.
	Power Herb	32	The user will not require a charge turn for any move that would require a charge turn but can only be used once.
	White Herb	32	Cures the holder of any Status Condition but can only be used once.
	Brightpowder	48	The holder has its Evasion stat increased by an added 10%.
	Choice Band	48	The holder's Attack is boosted to 150% of normal but the holder can only use one attack until it switches out.
	Choice Scarf	48	The holder's Speed is boosted to 150% of normal but the holder can only use one attack until it switches out.
	Focus Band	48	There is a 10% chance this item will prevent the holder from being fainted, instead surviving with 1 HP.
	Focus Sash	48	If the holder has max HP and would be OHKO'd it instead survives with 1 HP but this item is consumed.
	Muscle Band	48	The holder's Physical moves' base power are boost by 110% (x1.1).
	Razor Claw	48	Boosts the holder's Critical Hit rate one stage. Evolves Sneasel when leveling up at night.
	Razor Fang	48	The holder has an increased chance (11.7%) of inflicting the opponent with Flinch. Evolves Gligar when traded.
	Scope Lens	48	Boosts the holder's Critical Hit rate one stage.
Other
	Rare Candy	48	Boosts a Pokémon's level by one.

Pokémon Scratch-Off Corner

Note that this section is not found in Diamond/Pearl. It is only found in Platinum's Frontier Square.

The second corner, located under the green and white sunshade (in Platinum), is the Pokémon Scratch-Off Corner. Here you can select any three of four available cards for 1 BP. You will then proceed to try and scratch-off three of nine greyed out areas to reveal Pokémon that match one of the prizes displayed on the top screen.

Ditto can be used to substitute for a Pokémon if you have two others that match, or two Ditto and one Pokémon. A list of the available prizes follows...
