Which tourney?

I realised that I'm not really active on this site anymore and thought that maybe a tourney would change that.

I'm thinking that either we have a tourney with OU in the first round, Uber the second, UU the third and OU for the remaining rounds. It'd be a bit of a change, but as OU is the main metagame, it'd carry most weight.

The other idea is to have a tag-tourney of sorts. It doesn't actually have any tagging though... Anyway, the competitors would be in groups of 2 or 3 (I prefer 3) that are probably chosen, but random if everyone prefers it. We would then have groups like in major football (soccer) tournements with no group having 2 players from the same team. 4 groups sounds pretty good to me. The top 2 or 3 (depending on how many players) move on to the next round. From then on it'll be like a regular knockout tournamentand the team who's player wins, wins overall. If the finalists are all of the same team, the team wins automatically. If in the semi-final there is 1 person from Team A and 3 people form Team B, the person from Team A has to beat all 3 to win overall.

So vote on which one you'd prefer. If the higher-ups would rather i didn't have this tourney, just post and say so.

Interesting idea and I would join any of your suggestions.

Especially the Group Tournament. I had something similar in mind. We could use different tiers in the tag-tourney, to make it seem as if you're fighting in different stadiums.

But, yeah, majority vote, but I'm not voting for either.

Would you mind if I added a third option saying "I'd join/prefer both"?

I'd prfer if they voted for one of the two and then posted in the topic that they'd join both. Mainly because I made the poll to see which one I should make. I'm pretty undecided myself.

Well then, I voted groups, but I'd join both, and especially a mix.

Actually a mix could work. With the different tiers and everything, people may have to choose team members on overall battling or for certain tiers.

So, there'd be teams of 3 persons?
One person for Uber, one for OU and one for UU?
And those battle the other team's persons for the tier they choose?

What does the team get that wins the most?

In that case it would be easy for a team if they had the best at OU, best at Uber and best at UU. I was thinking that it could stay in the same format as the original team tourney, but could have different tiers for different rounds. E.g. The round with the groups (first round) could be OU. The next could be Uber, and so on.
Another idea is to get rid of the group round at the start and just have knockouts.
Either way i think that all 3 members of a team should have to play in all the rounds and tiers.

Then we randomize the groups so that they hold one person from each tier, but picked randomly.

I guess that could work, but it seems overly complicated to me. If we do have the mixed tier groups, I think we should just have all participents battle in the same tier every round.

Round robins are SLOOOWWW because one person usually holds up the tourney for several days past everyone else's finish. I vote for groups because I'm selfish, and the idea sounds fun anyway. I'd love to go teams.
