Re: Yamask Theme open discussion

Postby nebulousrl » Sun Apr 03, 2011 9:35 pm

i thought it would help give it more form. Due to very little on yamask anyway.

Though the "arms" on Cofagrigus is sorta signature, but then again, this is yamask.

I'd definitely say that Yamask's most notable feature is the mask. It honestly symbolizes what we mentioned was the "theme" we're playing with (forgotten love, things being lost in time, etc) really well.

The other really distinct feature would be the eye, because its both done in an Egyptian like style but also because the second oval just beneath it resembles a tear.

When you say that theme, I think "pink jellies and blue jellies"

I like Jellicent's dex entry: "The Fate of the Ships and Crew that wander into Jellicent's Habitat: All Sunken, All Lost, All Vanished" To me this sorta fits the theme. Though my mind may work differently from what you are shooting for.

Jellicent and Frillish color schemes would look cool with the black background.

I'm not seeing this at all. In fact, that sounds really dark and ominous just with bright colours. Which works with jellyfishes since they are really bright and colourful but are murdering machines.

Let me try this again. When anyone thinks of Egypt they think of the tombs and pyramids. That's because Egypt has a lot of history lost in the sands, with everything found being remnants of time. The theme we're going with is all about remembering.

Okay, that makes more sense.

Then the only other pokemon I could think of would be Musharna. Musharna fits "memories" and "remembering" really well IMO.

Though it does have a brighter color scheme.

Looks a bit weird with the mask part having the black and grey checks behind it. And it might just be that I can't remember what it looked like, but I think we lost the top of it's eye. Was it always like that?

Day 4. Best yet. Eye gets cut because of style choices.

The eye was cut because of style choices, by the way.

Fresh twist on old design. Able to remember design from the past and apply it mentally now. Fits with the theme.

So along with these style changes nza is (gasp) doing something behind the scenes, which is why he hasn't been posting much. We'll have more information on that whenever he's ready, but it should be fun things for everyone, hopefully making everyone's PLDH experience all the better.

It should be noted that styles cannot be changed during this process. We do anticipate that functionality to return sometime in the future.
