Katawa Shoujo.

Postby Xltyre13 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:25 pm

I recently stumbled on this Visual Novel while browsing Kotaku.

It's incomplete, but the story is very funny and had some emotional parts, too.

Has anyone else heard of this?

I have. It's kind of old news.

I haven't tried it. Mainly because it's a dating sim and I don't like those. >_>

Ok. Valter cleared some things up. Checked it out but didn't really understand what I was looking at...

I may download it to see what this kind of thing ("dating sim"?) is all about but I'll need to be without any other priorities first.

It's a visual novel, which is pretty much a dating sim...
Well, think of it as a book with choices and you get to date a girl (I won't go more into it...)
I'm still waiting for the full version before trying it...

Well, that's understandable. They're working a lot on it, and have done really well in the first act they released (about 2 hours).

Dating sims, as a whole, really isn't a major niche market in the US yet (With a notable exception with Persona 3 and 4). But, the underground fanbase is growing, especially for this game, probably because the game is in English.

They aren't really dating sims.
Those are the old versions where you actually went around giving gifts to girls.
I'm sticking with my definition= Visual Novel, i.e. a novel with pictures and sounds with multiple paths and endings that happen to revolve around dating talking to girls.

Right, right.
I only mentioned Persona 3 and 4 because of those elements within gameplay.
