What is beta?
This site being in beta means that this is the first public release of our new scripts & style. The purpose of doing this is for users to, hopefully, alert the designers to any flaws that may have been missed during their closed testing sessions. Of course the designers may discover their own errors in a live environment as well but we hope there are none!
Found an error?
The most important thing to us right now is making sure that this website is functioning to the best of its abilities. If you found an error of any kind at all please contact our support team and let them know what the problem is! We'd greatly appreciate any and all the help we can get, even if your email means doing more work to correct the problem.
What is new?
With every major site iteration change comes a new appearance. At least here. Aside from that major work was done on to ease the process of page assembly and serving, though these are scripting changes you won't really notice.
We have been using phpBB3 forum software since RC4, keeping up-to-date with their new beta releases, but it is worth a mention that we use this new software, which has recently gone gold(which means it is an official release and no longer in beta). This new site iteration features interactivity between the forums and main website, namely carrying your session. That means you can login/logout from the main website and stay logged in while browsing main-site pages. This advance will bring even more intriguing site features to the surface in the near future!
PLDH.net now has its own IRC channel which can be accessed using mIRC software for Windows, Colloquy for MAC OS, or the PJIRC java client found here on the site! We have had several chat clients since the beginning but have ended up on IRC which we feel is probably the best way to go :D
Lastly we now host our own Wiki, called WikiZam. WikiZam is available to everyone that visits the site but can only be modified by members. Fortunately you don't have to make two accounts to modify the wiki, your pldh.net account works on the forums and WikiZam! WikiZam will host the guides we used to but that required frequent editing. Our StrategyDex can be found there, though it is still being put together. The exciting part about having Strategy's held in the Wiki is that any member can input their own moveset and Pokémon strategy! WikiZam will host a slew of other things as well. Members are even making their own personalized pages!
